Lawyers: Cops botched murder investigation

Santiago trial

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Attorneys for the loan processor accused of killing his clients had some tough questions Monday for the first officers at the scene.

Ronald Santiago is accused of shooting Greg and Bernadette Ohlemacher in their Northwest Albuquerque home in 2005.

On Monday, one of the investigating officers was questioned about the bullet casings in his report. He said four casings were found on the floor, but on Monday revealed one was on the dresser.

The defense has claimed all along that police botched this investigation. In prior hearings, they even insinuated police planted evidence.

A medical investigator also took the stand revealing Bernadette Ohlemancher had three gunshot wounds, one of which could have been a defensive wound.
