Jury selection begins in license fraud case

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Jury selection has begun for a Chinese national accused of helping more than 50 illegal immigrants get New Mexico driver’s licenses.

Hai Gan, 56, allegedly advertised in Chinese newspapers in the U.S. and told the immigrants he could help them get licenses by using a New Mexico address.

New Mexico is one of only a few states that allows illegal immigrants to get driver’s licenses. Gov. Susana Martinez has highlighted cases like this a reason to get rid of them.
