ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – He’s accused of robbing an 84-year-old at gunpoint, trying to tie him up; then choked him. But the elderly man fought back.
The 84-year old victim told police he fought off one of the attackers by kicking him in the groin.
The man says he woke up Wednesday morning in his home near Louisiana and Gibson to two people he didn’t know, pointing a gun at his head.
According to the complaint, the men broke a window and kicked in the back door to the garage to get in.
The elderly man told police that the two guys held him in his home for an hour, stealing his rifle, laptop, TV, and his Toyota Corolla.
The victim says the robbers only left when he fought back to keep the guys from tying him up and strangling him with a power cord.
Later in the day, police found the stolen car at these apartments about a mile away near Central and Pennsylvania, where they met Jose Gomez.
Cops found his fingerprints on the car and connected them to ones left at the robbery.
Gomez went before a judge today and seemed surprised that the court didn’t go easy on him.
Gomez is facing kidnapping, burglary, and assault and gun charges. No word on the search for the second suspect.
