ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – In the middle of winter, with conditions extremely dry, two brush fires sparked across Albuquerque.
A brush fire in northeast Albuquerque quickly raced across an open field toward homes on Eagle Rock near Ventura and Alameda around eleven this morning.
A deputy patrolling the area spotted the fire and quickly called for fire crews.
BCSO says one homeowner grabbed his own hose and started dousing the flames.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, but with 42 days without rain, this makes it the longest stretch during winter without a drop of rain since the late 1920’s.
