ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – Ever wonder what the aftermath of a ground-penetrating bomb looks like?
Thanks to Sandia National Labs, people won’t have to wonder anymore. Sandia released pictures showing the results of a test last month, the first of its kind in seven years.
The Sandia team hoisted the weapon wihtout its nuclear components above the target, and using a rocket, shot it into the ground.
Sandia has worked toward this test since 2010.
Data from the test will be used during the annual assessment of the nation’s stockpile for President Barack Obama.
