NM screening system named top innovation

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – A screening system used by New Mexico Motor Transportation Police has been named as one of the top five innovations in American government.

New Mexico’s Smart Roadside Inspection Program uses roadside sensors to identify high-risk commercial vehicles. It then notifies officers about vehicles they should take a closer look at.

There are currently 15 of the sensors across the state and they are now used in 12 other states as well.

New Mexico Motor Transportation Police says the sensors have helped take more dangerous trucks off the road.
