NM gets $37M grant for school districts

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – New Mexico is getting a $37 million grant to help school districts turn around its persistently low achieving schools.

The Public Education Department will give the money to school districts that demonstrate the greatest need and strongest commitment to raising student achievement.

According to Congressman Ben Ray Lujan, New Mexico ranks at the bottom of national child well being studies when it comes to  turning schools around.

New Mexico is one of seven states receiving the grant money.
