ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) – The future of some of Bernalillo County’s most popular spots to enjoy the great outdoors and relax is now up to the public.
Residents are invited to a meeting Wednesday to discuss possible changes to community centers and pools.
The project is called the Aquatics Master Plan. Officials have been talking about it for the past year, and now it’s time to start working on it. The facilities have not had a makeover before and officials say it’s long overdue. The funding for the project will come from the Parks and Recreation Department. The amount of funding is yet to be determined.
Ideas for the facilities are already being floated around.
“You can have summer lesson opportunities, you can have pool party opportunities for young people, and maybe teen nights. We’ve done movies at the park, so we could do movies at the pool,” said Lonnie Talbert, Bernalillo County Commissioner, District 4.
Bernalillo County expects a first draft of the master plan to be finished in six months.
The meeting is Wednesday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Another Aquatics Master Plan meeting is scheduled for February 4.
