BERNALILLO (KRQE) – Governor Susana Martinez is making another funding push in schools, this time for textbooks.

The Governor announced an item of her budget today to spend an extra one-time nine million dollars on school books and classroom materials in the next year.

The Governor highlighted Bernalillo Elementary today saying its common to find books between 10 and 30 years old.

She says getting new school books is about making sure the state’s future workforce is well-prepared.

If the school book purchase makes it in the budget the money would be divided up depending on the number of kids each school has.
